How to change your phone’s model name!

1. Download default_upgrade.zip.
2. Extract and open the default_upgrade.xml by using Notepad

3. Replace “your Phone name” with the the model name you prefer

4. Then go on XS++ 3.1, Connect your phone, (NOTE: Make sure drivers are installed)

5.Click fsx and then start fsx, Then browse to … tpa/preset/default and upload the file in the directory

6.Then click shutdown!

Done! Your Phone’s model name has been changed!

Album Art Tutorial for Walkman 2.0 Supported Phones

Here is my tutorial for the easiest method to get album art on your W850i/W880i (or any other walkman phone that supports at least Walkman 2.0) using windows XP and Media player 11.

First thing is you need Media Player 11.

When you open media player and go to the library tab, you will see a album selection on the left side like this….

Click that so it’s highlighted like in the picture.

Then after that you can drag your CD folder of all the songs in the CD into that box to the right of it. Not the small box all the way to the right, but just next to the album selection tab.

After your folder of the CD is in that box it will look like this.

It’s the one without a picture on it.

You need to get a picture of the album cover. I use the Amazon Album Cover finder.

It will sometimes give you a few options to choose from. After it’s done querying go to the results tab and find the cover you want.

After you selected the cover you can save it to JPGformat. Then after you have saved it in JPG format you can use it for the CD in media player 11.

All you do to use it is find where you saved it. I saved it in the actual folder of the CD.

Then just drag it over the CD in media player that needs the cover. It will update the tags on the mp3’s and now the songs will have album art. Like this.
You can use media player 11 to sync with your memory stick or just drag the CD folder onto your stick. It doesn’t matter now how you transfer it because media player wrote the album art info into the mp3’s permanently.

1.Download xs++ 3.1 (Download from my sharing folder box.net)

2.Unzip xs++

3.Open xs ++

4.Make sure you have installed Flash drivers for your phone

5.Click connect on xs++ and turn of your phone and hold the c button until connected.

6.Then when connected click on FSX and then Start Fsx

7.Then on the second column there should be a file browser for your phone in text.

8.Click on TPA->presets->System->desktop->then double click on flash

9.then drag and drop the flash themes you want into the column on the very right.

10.Now you have uploaded these yo your phone

11.Now click shut down and disconnect your phone

Then you should be done!

This is a tutorial on How to apply patches to your DB2020 SE Phone
We will apply quick access patch to your phone so that when you want to patch the phone later on,you can do it quickly

1.) First Download SETool

2.) Drag the MAIN file (.mbn) that you have in your phone on to qamaker.exe From the qamaker folder that comes with SETool2 Lite 1.11; this will create a vkp file.

This vkp patch allows you to break into your phone easily…..
So without quick access it will take about 10 minutes to apply a patch…..
With quick access applied it will take about 40 seconds….
This will make life easier for the frequent patchers….

3.) Open SETool

4.) Select your phone from the drop down menu above

5.) Click Bypass DB2020

6.) Add the MAIN file (.mbn) in the “Files” Directory in SETool

7.) The vkp file created in Step 2 needs to be put in to MISC FILES

8.) Press FLASH button

TURN OFF PHONE, HOLD “C” INSERT USB CABLE

9.) Follow the instructions given by setool2 lite.
You have to be alert and have to be watching this process ALL THE TIME because in the middle of the flashing SeTool will ask you to remove the cable, re-insert battery and then press then Ready, Be alert.Be carefull! At one moment you will believe that nothing happens and the status windows is not changing! Do not remove the CABLE! Wait until “ELAPSED x SECONDS” appears in status window.

This process will take some time, about 10-15 minutes or more

Once this process is done, you have now applied quick access patch to your phone.

Now we need to apply the ACTUAL patches which would enhance your phone.

1.) Open SETool Lite

2.) Select the patch file (.vkp extension) and put into MISC files; i will post some patches that you might like

3.)Select your phone type

4.) Click Use quick access patch

5.) Press “Write Script”

Note: SETool will ask “Click Yes to remove patch, Click NO to apply patch NO to apply the patch but if you dont like it, do this process again and click YES

Unlock any DB2020 CID52 SE phone!(w580i,w850i,etc.)

Heres a little tool what can generate SIM-Lock remover vkp patches that you can use with SETool2 Lite, Far Manager with SEFP (Sony Ericsson Flash Plugin) and compatible tools. It is able to generate vkp patches for DB2000/DB2010/DB2012/DB2020 CID36/49/50/51/52 MAIN firmwares (*.mbn, *.bin), but at the moment you can apply patches to DB2000/DB2010 CID36/49 and DB2020 CID52 platforms only.

How to apply the generated patches to DB2020 CID52 phones:

IMPORTANT: First you need backup the GDFS. If something goes wrong you can fix your phone with this backup. Here is how to do it:

Open SETool2 Lite v1.11.
1. Select your phone model.
2. Click on Read GDFS button.
3. Follow the instructions given by SETool2 Lite.
4. You will get a gdfs_yourIMEI.bin file in SETool2 Lite folder. Put it to a safe place.

Ii. Now we need to generate an unlock patch.
Run SIMLockPatchGen.exe, select the MAIN firmware thats in your phone by clicking on … (three dots) button, then press the Make patch button. In status window you will get the path to the generated vkp file(e.g. “D:\…\SIMLockPatchGen\vkp\Remove_SIM_lock_XXX_XX XXXXX.vkp” patch file created.) Close the SIMLockPatchGen.

1. We will apply the generated unlock patch to unlock the phone.
With SETool2 Lite v1.11:

NOTE: TO APPLY THIS PATCH YOU NEED TO READ THE TUTORIAL ON HOW TO APPLY QUICK ACCESS PATCH

2. Select your phone model.
3. Tick Use “quick access” patch checkbox
4. Click on … (three dots) button near MISC files box, and select the vkp file generated by SIMLockPatchGen.
5. Click Write SCRIPT button
6. Follow the instructions in left status window…
7. READ THIS CAREFULLY, it is a little tricky: When a dialog pop-up, click “Yes” to remove the patch. Click “No” to add the patch. In this case click on “No” button.

Wait until “ELAPSED x SECONDS” appears in status window, and done. Your phone is unlocked.

- Precautionary measures

Before doing anything please make sure you do the following:

* Charge your phone to 90-100%
* Back-up all your contacts to your SIM and Memory Stick
* Remove your SIM Card and Memory Stick

Included in this guide are the following files:

Download Files

- Instructions

1. Extract the RAR file you have just downloaded, inside you will find the following files:

+ setool2lite.rar
+ W580_CDA102568_2_R8A_GENERIC_CENT_EUROPE.rar
+ W580_R6BC002_FS_CENT_EUROPE_RED52.fbn
+ W580_R6BC002_MAIN_GENERIC_LA_RED52.mbn

Extract “setool2lite.rar” and leave the rest as is.

2. Go into the directory in which you extract the file “setool2lite”, and go into the “drivers” folder, there you will find another folder called “usb_flash_driver”. Go into that and launch the installer that is contained in it, proceed as you read, nothing major will happen this is just a SE USB Flash driver for your phone.

Once the installation is done proceed to the next step

3. Go back to the directory in which you extracted “setool2lite” and launch the application “setool2lt.exe”

4. In the application, you will need to select your phone model at the top, in this case it would be the SE W580i.

5. Now in the box where it says “Files:” under the phone model you will need to add the following files:

+ W580_R6BC002_MAIN_GENERIC_LA_RED52.mbn
+ W580_R6BC002_FS_CENT_EUROPE_RED52.fbn
REMEMBER ADD THE MAIN FIRST

6. In the box where it says “Misc files:” you will need to add the following file:

+ W580_CDA102568_2_R8A_GENERIC_CENT_EUROPE.rar

Now your screen should look like this:

7. Once you have added the files into their appropriate positions you will need to attach your phone to your computer, by switching of the phone and holding onto the “C” button and then plugging in the USB cable.

8. As a precautionary measure, make sure all the files are in their right placements and that your phone is detected as a “SEMC Flash Device” or something along those lines.

9. Now you are ready to click “FLASH”, DO NOT CLICK ANY OTHER BUTTONS BEFORE OR AFTER THIS PROCESS!

This process should take about 5 minutes and you will be readily happy with this de-branded version of your phone!

How to create your own GFX patches

This tutorial will teach you how to get rid of the boring icons on your phone and put new and better icons..
Lets get started:

1.) Download SE Db2020 Imagetool (In my Box.net Sharing Folder)

2.) Open SE Db2020 Imagetool.

3.) Click “OPEN” and open your MAIN

4.) After a couple of seconds, on the left hand side, you will see lots of pictures. These are the ALL the pictures that will ever be used in your phone.

5.) Now we need to grab some icons so we can replace them with the ones in our phone. For example these battery icons:

NOTE: ALL ICONS MUST BE THE CORRECT SIZE, MUST BE A PNG ICON AND IT MUST HAVE TRANSPARENCY OTHERWISE YOUR ICONS WILL HAVE A CRAPPY BACKGROUND BEHIND IT

6.) Before we replace the icons we need to delete unused icons to give us more free space to put high quality images.
For example the picture of the cow, goat, monkey. They are not needed. Click on them and hit “DELETE” on your keyboard:

7.) Browse to the image you want to replace and click “Replace selected image” ; Double click on the image that you to replace….. and its done!

8.) Once youre done replacing, Click “Make .vkp patch”
Choose where you want to save, wait till its finished…. AND YOUVE CREATED A PATCH!:

This guide will tell you how to extract files from your FileSystem, So you can have all your original files.

You need:

• SEFStool4

• Main2Raw (You can download these in my SE Files Sharing (Box.net)
• Your FS (Find it on TopSony, iProTebe, TopSE or 4shared)

Extract the files all into one folder

««««« Step 3 »»»»»
Drag your FS file onto the Main2Raw program icon, you should now get a RAW file.

««««« Step 4 »»»»»
Drag the RAW file onto the SEFStool4 program.

If it doesn’t work (eg. The program crashes) follow the below steps:

Click Start » Run. Then type “cmd” (without the quotation marks) into the run box.

A Command Prompt window should pop up.
Now copy the address of where you extracted your SEFStool4:

In command prompt type: cd (then paste adress here) (Right click ; Paste)then press enter

Copy the name of your RAW file

Now type: “SEFStool4.exe ( Paste file name here; ;Right click ; Paste) then press enter.

The files should now be extracted and a folder with your FS files should appear in the directory.

Use your PC’s Internet on your A200 SE

Use your PC’s Internet on your A200 SE

If you’ve been wondering how you can use your PC’s Internet connection on your Sony Ericsson A200 mobile phone, then wait no more because I have the answer for you!

But first of all, let’s make sure that your phone is really running the A200 platform – right now there are K530, K630, K850, V640, W890, W910 & Z750 running this platform, but more will come in the future. The easiest way to know if it’s A200 or the old A100 is by looking at the softkeys – if there are two softkey options in the phone, it’s A100, if there are three, it’s A200. Quite simple, right?

Anyway, lets get on with it. Please note that you must have PC Suite 3.0 installed on your computer and you have to have had the phone connected to the PC first, so all drivers have been installed and are working.

Now, first of all go to Menu -> Settings -> Connectivity -> USB -> USB network -> USB network type and choose Via computer on your phone. Also make sure that your phone shows the USB mode-menu when plugging it to the USB cable.

Next go back to Connectivity and then Internet settings where you choose to Allow local connections.

Connect your phone to your PC via the USB cable. Once you’ve done this you should have a new LAN Internet connection on your PC. If you have any doubts about which one it is, you should be able to see the text “Sony Ericsson Device 117 USB Ethernet Emulation NDIS-5” in the right one (at least this is what is shown on my PC with my K850).

1. Next press the Configure a home or small office-network in Network connections on your PC.

2. A guide will now pop up. Press Next, Next, mark the “Ignore network hardware that is not connected”, Next, choose the first option (This computer has a direct connection to the Internet […]) and press Next.

3. Now choose your primary Internet connection and press Next.

4. Next up mark only the LAN connection created by your phone (in my case it’s called LAN-forbindelse 3) – press Next.

5. Again press Next, and now you must type in a name for the network – I’ve called mine for K850.

6. Now the guide will ask you if you want to enable file sharing – there’s no need for that, so just disable it.
7. After you’ve done so, it’ll configure the connections – this may take a few minutes (once it completes, just close the guide).

Lastly go back on your phone and go to Menu -> Settings -> Connectivity -> Network sharing -> and change the Workgroup name to the one you said on the computer (in this case K850).

That’s it! Now you can browse the Internet on your A200 mobile phone via your PC’s Internet connection
